[Two reckless morons apparently doesn't equal out to one sensible person in the end! It's just double the recklessness!! Because logically, Gilbert knows this is the part where he should turn around and scramble for help, raise an alarm, something, because the killer could still be around--]

Alisha, wait—!!

[But he reacts on instinct instead, rushing in after her even though she's already flung her boots and spear aside and is diving right on in. HOT DAMN.]

[ Hopefully Gilbert isn't about to dive after her-- because it becomes immediately apparent that this was a Bad Idea. The moment her skin meets the water, there's a high-pitched noise, too choked and cut short to be a proper scream. White-hot pain follows, and then a near-immediate numbness, and Alisha realizes two things in that instant.

1. This was a trap.
2. She's probably never going to open her eyes again after this.

But even as the thought crosses her mind, the shock does the rest, and she loses her grip on her consciousness before she can even try to warn Gilbert to run. Or ask him to tell Faize she's sorry, or even say "ow".

What a morning. ]

[Gilbert is not about to dive in after her! Which is about the only plus of this morning, honestly. Of course, the second he hears that sound, he comes to the same conclusion - a trap.

Of course.

Of course.

And Alisha is either dead or unconscious, and Gilbert is almost reckless enough to try reaching in after her out of reflexive fear, but-- No. He needs to get help. He doesn't even stop to identify the body already in the pool (or realize that it's a fake); he's just quick to turn so that he can head back for the door and call for anyone near enough to hear, already opening his mouth to yell—]

[ There's a change of plans. Sadie had expected maybe one person to get up this early, but two? She can hear them talking and she has only seconds left to figure out how to deal with this.

So she hides and watches her plan actually work (thanks, late night Dateline shows), then grabs the weight she'd been planning to use for the drowning. It comes down easily on his head, but it definitely wasn't enough to kill him. Now she has two unconscious bodies and it occurs to her that she's way too obvious. This plan is as sloth and weak as it gets.

She struggles to drag Gilbert nearer to the pool and her eye catches on the spear that Alisha left. That'll make it easier. Not that she's ever used a spear before, she's not a caveman, so she just lifts it and brings the pointed end down hard. ]

[And as his (awful) luck would have it, that increased durability kicks in just in time to not be helpful at all, instead simply ruining his chance at being granted a mercifully unconscious death. By the time she's done dragging him over to the pool and has the spear lifted, he stirs a little, cracking an eye open in time to watch the downward arc of a blade reflecting back on the water.

Which is, of course, the last thing he sees.]
