Gilbert's usually up around or before 5, so this is no different than usual. The only deviation is that today, on this fine Murder Friday, he's decided to take a quick trot down the hall after getting dressed just in case there are any further explosions or bloody corpses hanging out on the stairs having a good time. It's meant to be just a short check, of course, since Gilbert's a paranoid mess who sticks to Team Shady like super glue on Thursdays - but NATURALLY things won't be unrolling that way today. Instead of seeing any sad bodies when he peeks down the stairs, there's a familiar and miraculously still-living person!]
—Alisha?

She blinks now, glancing up towards him, before offering a sheepish smile. ]
Good morning, Gilbert.
no subject
Good morning. Er - I hope you slept well...?
[Does anyone ever sleep well on murdernight though.]
no subject
I thought about checking briefly to see if anything was out of place-- did you have the same idea? [ Well, now she won't have to go back and wake up the others, because she's not alone anymore! ]
no subject
But yay, the power of two! Good work, Team Safety. Gilbert nods a little in response, glancing back up the stairs toward the top floor.]
I did. Well, I was going to just take a look, but-- [Alisha was here!] We could look together then, if you want. ...Break has been sleeping even less than usual here, so I'd rather let him rest a little longer if possible. We can go back when we're done.
no subject
Yes, let's do that. Hopefully it shouldn't take long.
[ To the kitchen (very cautiously)??
also wow it was innocent shacking how dare ]
no subject
He doesn't normally, but I think it's been harder for everyone here.
[THE STRUGGLE... But he'll nod in response to that! TO THE KITCHEN (very cautiously). Though partway there, Gilbert pauses, nose wrinkling a little.]
...Do you smell something?
no subject
... What?! [ HOLD ON WHO LEFT FOOD ON THE STOVE, she's going to turn that off like a sensible alarmed person. ]
no subject
[SOMEONE'S PROBABLY ALREADY DEDA...
While she's checking the stove, he steps back to the door to look around, but nothing seems immediately amiss.]
no subject
[ But Alisha doesn't look all that convinced. ]
no subject
[He'll just be the gloomy gus here and point that out. UGH... But with the stove off and nothing dangerous in the area, he'll start out toward the hall.]
We should look around. [TIME TO GO TRIGGER A BODY DISCOVERY ugh.] Be on your guard, though. That food wasn't too burnt, so whoever made it couldn't have been missing for long.
no subject
If it only just happened... there's still a chance we can prevent a murder.
[ And then there doesn't have to be a trial and stuff and she and Gilbert can go back upstairs before anyone worries. ]
no subject
[BUT, ONWARD!! Time to scout the premises!! Which probably won't take long considering the pool is to the left of the stairs and all, and there's some water outside.]
—Starting here might be a good idea.
[Steppin' on in front of Alisha to get the door though, just in case.]
no subject
... Except when they step in, and she moves past him, her eyes are instantly drawn to the motionless figure in the pool. Her breath catches in her throat, and logically, she knows that it's likely not going to be a salvageable situation, but someone is (presumably) in danger, and so--
Off go the boots, the spear clatters to the floor, and in she goes.
She is going to regret this the instant she touches the water. ]
no subject
Alisha, wait—!!
[But he reacts on instinct instead, rushing in after her even though she's already flung her boots and spear aside and is diving right on in. HOT DAMN.]
no subject
1. This was a trap.
2. She's probably never going to open her eyes again after this.
But even as the thought crosses her mind, the shock does the rest, and she loses her grip on her consciousness before she can even try to warn Gilbert to run. Or ask him to tell Faize she's sorry, or even say "ow".
What a morning. ]
no subject
Of course.
Of course.
And Alisha is either dead or unconscious, and Gilbert is almost reckless enough to try reaching in after her out of reflexive fear, but-- No. He needs to get help. He doesn't even stop to identify the body already in the pool (or realize that it's a fake); he's just quick to turn so that he can head back for the door and call for anyone near enough to hear, already opening his mouth to yell—]

So she hides and watches her plan actually work (thanks, late night Dateline shows), then grabs the weight she'd been planning to use for the drowning. It comes down easily on his head, but it definitely wasn't enough to kill him. Now she has two unconscious bodies and it occurs to her that she's way too obvious. This plan is as sloth and weak as it gets.
She struggles to drag Gilbert nearer to the pool and her eye catches on the spear that Alisha left. That'll make it easier. Not that she's ever used a spear before, she's not a caveman, so she just lifts it and brings the pointed end down hard. ]
no subject
Which is, of course, the last thing he sees.]
