[ his stomach hurts too but honestly, his frustration is even more potent. rhys doesn't really enjoy losing this badly. ]

But that's why we're here, isn't it? Whatever happens doesn't matter if we do our jobs and part of that is figuring out these murders. The right way.

I disagree that whatever happens doesn't matter. Someone had to be executed today. Morrigan is an adult, and she knew what she was doing when she spoke up. Buddy is thirteen, and since if we do our jobs correctly everyone will return, there was no need to further traumatize her with whatever this place had in store for her.

And what if this comes back to bite us? Getting it wrong on purpose just because the culprit was a kid? Will you still feel okay with it then?

It would depend on the situation. I would not have felt alright with killing someone who had no role in the crime in Buddy's place. Morrigan participated in the murder. [So she wouldn't have voted to execute, say, Ranulf or Sadie.] But, to be clear, if I truly believed that letting a killer, no matter how sympathetic, get away would hinder our work, then I would not allow sentimentality to get in the way of our job.

[ he looks at her for a moment before nodding, sighing and straightening up. his hands go to his waist as he looks at the chalkboard, feeling a bit more determined. ]

We do better next week. And none of us get on that god damn suspect list either!
